SUBJECT
Africa’s Creativity – Africa’s Wealth: Culture as a Future Market

Film from Kenya, fashion from Senegal and literature from Zimbabwe: The event revolved around the topic that Africa has enormous creative talent and a booming cultural and creative economy. In many African countries, the creative industries are among the fastest-growing sectors with good job prospects for young people. Often, young start-ups from the creative scene find new solutions to current challenges on our neighbouring continent and develop successful business models from them.

The Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Dr Gerd Müller, invited guests to a discussion with the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, Minister of State Prof. Monika Grütters, on the future market of cultural and creative industries. Together with experts from Africa and Germany, it was shed light on the opportunities and challenges of culture as an economic factor from different perspectives. The evening gave exciting insights into current African productions from film, music and art.
